Best. Day. Ever. Zach and I’s January wedding was truly everything we could’ve wanted and more plus a snowy backdrop. Jokingly dubbed “The Speakeasy in Space,” we loved the vintage, historic elements of the Science Museum and wanted to honor that while still paying tribute to our nerdy personalities. Sometimes we pretend to be fancy but that didn’t keep Zach from donning Chewbaca socks or us from using tiny dinosaurs as place holders. Including even the silly little bits of what makes us us only added to how personal and perfect it was. And naturally, being a floral designer, I wanted ALL the flowers. Having an extraordinarily talented business partner made that so easy. Other than a color palette and some inspiration pieces, I wanted Kristen to take creative license because that’s when she truly creates the most breathtaking pieces. I knew that whatever she did would be phenomenal and it absolutely was. From the 8 foot floral ring we said our vows in front of to the eclectic mix of centerpieces to the boutonnieres, every element far exceeded what I’d envisioned in my head. Our day would not have been the same without the love she poured into it. I could never repay her for such a gift. Seeing it all come together was better than being a kid on Christmas and there were cocktails!
Speaking of everything coming together, I would be remiss not to mention the lady behind the curtain. Taylor, of Alyson Taylor Events, is not only a dear friend but the most amazing planner. I cherish her and trusted her so completely. If 8 inches of snow in a Southern city doesn’t isn’t a bit of a snafu, I don’t know what is but never once was I worried because I knew she’d work her magic. And oh my goodness did she. I cannot say enough about the dedication of our vendors, family, & friends in making sure that we still had the most amazing day. Whether they came to town the night before the storm, opened their doors despite being closed to the public, or braved the weather just to be there, each and every one of them brought their A game. Their professionalism, heart, and dedication to their clients still amazes me. We could never properly put into words the gratitude we feel every time we think about that weekend. With an oh so happy and grateful heart, I can’t wait for you to see a glimpse of what truly is my favorite day ever.
